Attorney Dan Eckhart is of counsel with Moses & Rooth and defends federal criminal cases throughout the United States. He has represented clients accused of various federal crimes including drug trafficking, money laundering, health care, investment, passport, credit card, wire, and bank fraud, firearm offenses, embezzlement, identity theft, and cyber-crimes. Dan has successfully challenged and won a number of federal and state forfeiture cases. Dan gained his federal criminal practice and procedure expertise as a Special Agent for the United States Customs Service and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Department of Justice. At the U.S. Attorney’s Office Dan worked in the civil, asset forfeiture, and criminal divisions. He prosecuted the same charges he now defends clients against and spent time in Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Ireland, and the Netherlands, working with local prosecutors and police.
Dan has been a speaker for the Association of Certified Money Laundering Specialists, Offshore Alert, the International Association of Financial Crime Investigators, the Florida Bankers Association, the Orlando Federal Bar Association, and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and presented in London, Miami, Las Vegas, and the Cayman Islands. He was an adjunct law professor at Barry Law School from 2017-2018 teaching Trial Advocacy. He has been featured on CNN, the BBC, in the Washington Post, in Variety, and several local news outlets. He has been a guest on “Banfield” which airs on NewsNation. He was selected as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association in 2024.
