What Is the Difference Between a Felony and a Misdemeanor?

There are two types of misdemeanors. A first degree misdemeanor is punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and one year in jail. A second degree misdemeanor is punishable by 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. We are experienced in handling all misdemeanor cases and are able to recognize additional potential collateral consequences of a conviction, such as a driver's license suspension or immigration consequences. Our attorneys are focused and experienced, and understand the best strategies to defend against misdemeanor criminal charges.

Some of the common more serious felonies include:

The more serious charges are considered felonies and are punishable by more than a year in jail. Third degree felonies are punishable by up to $5,000 and five years imprisonment. Second degree felonies are punishable by up to 15 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. A first degree felony is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Life felony is punishable by life in prison and $15,000 fine. A Capital felony is punishable by death.

Our Orlando attorneys handle misdemeanor and felony cases, always looking to aggressively defend our clients and obtain the best outcome possible for them.
